ITP Haunted House
Ofrenda De Los Muertos is an immersive, interactive Haunted House at ITP. The space was transformed into the Land of the Dead, where tortured souls lay trapped, unable to move on.
Visitors were able to enter different spaces and experience various micro-narratives, receiving tokens from the dead that determined their fate when they faced Santa Muerte at the end of the experience.
Apothecary / Bar Scene
My main focus was the Apothecary/Bar Scene, working with Sharang Biswas and Rosalie Yu.
In this scene, the bartender character is lost in the underworld trying to recreate the poison he used to kill his lover. When he smells that the new visitors…our guests are alive, his excitement is uncontrollable. In the underworld, you cannot kill the undead. But mortals, they can be his test subject.
After mixing a custom drink based on characteristics of the individual guests, they are forced to drink his concoction. But it doesn't work as intended. In a bright flash the bartenders range is transported into the room, as guests are pulled away to 1-on-1 experiences with other residents of the underworld.
To create this experience we used a PowerSwitch Tail / zero crossing detector, incandescent string lights and control logic with Max MSP.
I also assisted with configruing the lighting and control for the final scene.
